8 things I wish I knew before solo travelling as a women to bali
bali is a dream destination, it was on our vision board for years, we watched eat, pray, love and watched hundreds of tiktoks of the beautiful cafes, the stunning waters and the incredible local food. so when we decided to run our first ever group trip there we headed out alongside 20 gals for the trip of a life time. now, we had over 80 group trips to bali for the gals, run 2 different trips with local guides to show you around so it's only right we tell you a few top tricks to know before you visit.

1. you need a visa!! - don't get caught out!
if you're travelling to bali, the first question you should ask yourself is do i need a visa to travel to bali? and 99% of the time the answer is yes!! you can get a visa on arrival but in peak season sometimes the queues can be crazzzzzyyy. you can apply for one online here and use the egates when you arrive to save time! make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity and you have enough empty pages for a stamp!

2. download grab or gojek!! it's bali's version of uber and you can use it for transport, food, medicine & any quick deliveries!!
if there's one thing about bali, it's incredibly connected. you can order anything off of grab or gojek and it's amazing to get around safely. whether you fancy ordering breakfast into your hotel, exploring for the day or need some medication. download either grab or gojek in advance and you'll be set! you can also use it for your airport pick up!! make sure to tip your driver, they work so incredibly hard throughout all hours of the day and even a small tip shows your appreciation!!

3. the coconuts are fresh and keep you super hydrated!!
one of the things we love the most about bali is the coconuts!!! they're so incredibly fresh, sweet & tasty and help with rehydrating those post landing slog & jetlag. take yourself to the beach, watch the sunset and order a coconut to relax. one of the best ways to avoid getting bali belly is staying hydrated so drink up!!

4. make sure to eat local - try the warungs!!
trust us when we say there's 10001 amazing cafes and restaurants in bali to choose from but in our opinion there's nothing quite like trying local food from a small warung. some of the tastiest food i've eaten has been stopping off on a long journey back in a small town and sitting down to enjoy ayum batutu or nasi campur!!

5. don't visit the monkey forrest... this one might be controversial
okay this one might be a little controversial if you've had visiting the monkey forrest on your bucket list.. but in our opinion we wouldn't recommend. as many tourist hotspots go, the monkey forrest in ubud has become a hub for mass tourism meaning the monkeys are always looking for food, grabbing peoples bags and jumping on you. of course, you can never blame the animal in this instance, this is their home and tourists are entering it. we prefer to see monkeys from afar safely so in our opinion it's best not to visit!!

6. pack a micro fibre towel - you won't realise how much you'll use it!!
packing for bali can be overwhelming but make sure to pack lots of swim wear, light flowy clothes because it get's humid and a micro fibre towel is perfect for the beach and travelling!! if you're planning to visit a temple or any place of worship make sure to cover your knees and shoulders so a good sarong can be perfect!!

7. traffic in bali can be crazzzzzyyyy
traffic in bali is crazy at times especially if you're visiting places like canggu or uluwatu. make sure to use reputable transport for all your journeys and plan lots of extra time ahead for your journeys!! it might sound exciting to ride a scooter abroad but unless you're a confident rider and have driven lots before, order a grab or gojek. it's not worth the risk!!!

8. if you're feeling nervous about going solo... join a gals who travel bali group trip!!
we have not 1 but 2 women only group trips exploring canggu ubud, uluwatu, gili t and nusa penida so wherever is on your bucket list let us show you around!! around 90% of our gals come solo so you don't need to worry about being the only one!! see our
