could this be our most requested gals who travel trip...EVER?? we're going to brazil!! our gals who travel brazil trip is by far the best way to see brazil as a solo female traveller!! we'll start in rio seeing christ the redeemer (a wonder of the world), visiting sugarloaf mountain and sipping coconuts on copacabana beach before visiting a local favela community project to learn the history and culture of brazil. next stop is island life as we head to the paradise island of ilha grande for tropical beach days, paddleboarding, kayaking and watching the sun go down beachfront with the gals!! we end our trip exploring the cobblestone alleys of old town paraty, taking a boat trip through turqiouse waters and trying local cachaça before we drive to our end stop säo paulo!!

ahhh gals!! we're here!! welcome to brazil!! our first day of the trip is our welcome dinner so arrive in the morning or afternoon and check in to the hotel and the day is yours to spend as you please!! we're located just a short uber ride from famous ipanema & copacabana beaches, amazing shopping (a 3 story havianas store) or local food markets so use today to explore before the trip starts!! in the evening we'll head out for dinner, meet the gals and our amazing local tour guide who will be showing us around for the next 9 days!!

a wonder of the world!!! ahh pinch us!! today is a full day of exploring rio. after breakfast, we head up corcovado mountain to visit christ the redeemer, one of the new 7 wonders of the world! the views are incredible!! it's a stop that's been on our pinterest board for years and we're so excited to take you gals with us. next stop - we’re hopping on the cable car up to sugarloaf mountain for 360-degree views across the bay!! in the aftetnoon, we'll spend the afternoon wandering the bohemian, cobbled streets of santa teresa, stopping for local bites and experiencing the famous lapa steps!!
local community experience & copacabana beach
this morning, we’re experiencing a community led favela tour. it’s a super inspiring social enterprise initiative that gives back directly to the local community, letting us learn about authentic favela life and history. they'll teach us about education, farming and even some traditional brazilian dance moves so get ready!! afterwards, it’s beach time!! we’re heading straight to world-famous copacabana beach for beach games, swimming, and soaking up the rays before watching an unforgettable sunset over the coast!!
island life & paddleboarding
goodbye city life, hello tropical paradise!! today we travel south to catch a short boat ride over to ilha grande, a completely car-free island surrounded by crystal-clear waters and lush rainforest. after checking into our beachfront local stay, we’ll grab paddleboards (or kayaks if you prefer!) and head out into the calm bay. it’s the ultimate chill afternoon, so sit back and enjoy the beautiful views and calming sounds of island life!!
hidden beach & picnic with the gals
get your bikinis ready, because today we’re visiting lopes mendes - frequently voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire world!! we’ll take a local taxi boat over to praia do pouso and take a short, shaded jungle trail walk over to the main beach!! it's a little bit of a hike so make sure you have suitable shoes, we'll spend the morning enjoying a picnic beach day with with pastries with the gals!! make sure to stock up on snacks, grab an acai on the way or just enjoy a coconut on the beach!!
beautiful paraty & cachaca tasting
this morning we catch a boat back to the mainland and travel to paraty, a gorgeous UNESCO-listed colonial town framed by emerald mountains. after checking in around midday, you’ll have free time to explore the cute boutiques or grab a coffee. in the late afternoon, our local guide will lead us on a historical walking tour through the whitewashed streets, ending with a private tasting of cachaça (brazil’s famous sugarcane spirit)!
boat day - island exploring!
slow mornings are the best mornings!! after a chilled breakfast, we're spending today sailing the waters on a boat trip!! we'll spend the day beach hopping around the paraty archipelago. the waters are turqouise and full of tropical fish, we'll stop for snorkelling, jumping off the boat and exploring the nearby beaches. the boat has incredible food and tasty cocktails and it's the perfect way to relax and see a different side of brazil with the gals!! we'll sail back around sunset and grab a chilled dinner together!! paraty has some gorgeous live music bars so enjoy the evening as you please!!

next stop - são paulo! today is a travel day so download some good songs on spotify, get started on a new book or just watch the world go by as we travel by bus to our final stop on this trip!! we’ll arrive late afternoon and have some time to freshen up before we head out for a final dinner together. são paulo is a bustling city and there's so much to see & do, your tour leader will be able to show you all the best places if you're staying longer here!!

I really wanted to go to Japan but not go by myself as I didn’t know the culture well enough. I loved going with Gals Who Travel, all the girls are lovely and we all got on so well! I did the 12 day trip to Japan and it was so worth it! Planning on using Gals Who Travel again next year! Linh our lead was brilliant and very informative of many things from the history of Japan to restaurants! I wish Linh all the best in the future and would highly recommend Gals Who Travel.
Such an incredible experience. I’ve never been away solo travelling and wanted an opportunity to do so but meet new people. I loved that girls who travel allowed girls to feel safe exploring new places and this company made it all possible.
Mita was absolutely amazing, truly could not have asked for a better tour guide. She was so organised and knew everything about everything but also felt like a friend and member of the group. I loved hearing her stories and she is truly iconic. She is so funny and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with her. I learnt so much from her and will remember her forever. She arranged extra activities for us to do such as jewellery making which she didn’t have to do. Overall, Mita is an incredible tour guide.

WOW. I can’t believe the trip has come to an end. i am a 24 year old from Liverpool who has never travelled alone before. being in a group of like minded girls who have all come together on the other side of the world, because we all felt we needed something, has been nothing short of amazing. it’s so hard to find like minded people - gals who travel fixed this!

I went on the gals who travel Sri Lanka trip in February and it was the most incredible trip of a lifetime. Sri Lanka is the most beautiful country - it was literally tropical paradise! My favourite moment in the itinerary was the elephant safari through the national park and then we spent the night glamping in the jungle!!! We literally went to bed with the sounds of the jungle surrounding us and then woke up to noises of monkeys and nearby elephants. The whole trip is magical from start to finish but that part felt extra special <3
Also worth mentioning that everything was made super simple for me, all I had to do was book my flights - the rest was all handled!! It was so nice to go to a brand new part of the world and just relax and take it in, rather then having to plan everything myself!!
Sri Lanka and Hasi have my heart!!! the most incredible 10 days exploring Sri Lanka and i loved every single minute of it, the food, the company, the activities were all amazing and i left this trip with 19 new lifelong girl friends! if you're thinking of doing this trip... BOOK IT!! i hope you get Hasi!! he's the most thoughtful, passionate and kind person and made our whole experience 11/10!!

I went on the Morocco Uncovered GWT trip in March and had the time of my life!! This was my first trip like this and I’m soooo glad I did it.
The activities on the trip were amazing and our guide, Driss, went above and beyond to make sure we were getting the most out of our trip. I felt truly immersed in Moroccan culture and feel so lucky to have experienced the Sahara Desert, Atlas Mountains, and Marrakech.
I also found this trip really reasonable price for all of the bucket list activities we were doing. Would recommend this trip to anyone!

It can feel a little intimidating to plan completely on your own due to language barriers (portuguese is spoken here!) and complex internal transport. That’s why joining a group trip for your first time in brazil is an amazing option. you get all the bucket-list adventures, built-in safety, and instant travel besties without any of the planning stress!! Around 90% of the gals who join us book solo, so don’t worry about coming alone!!
In tourist-friendly areas, yes as long as you stay smart! We always use registered ubers or private group transport to get to and from restaurants or live music spots rather than walking through unfamiliar streets after dark. Stick with the gals, stay together on nights out, and you’ll have the absolute BEST time!! our local guide is there for you throughout if there's a foodie spot you want to try, a coffee shop you have to taste or just want to explore somewhere you've seen on tiktok!! they'll make sure you get from A to B safely!!
Keep it casual, comfy, and cute!! Pack plenty of swimwear, light breathable clothes, comfortable shoes for cobblestone streets in paraty, suncream, and a cross-body bag that zips closed securely… we love a Uniqlo number IYKYK. we'll spend some days on the beach and sailing to make sure to pack for island life too!! don't forget mosquito spray!!
100% yes!! 90% of our girls join and book solo. it can feel itimidating to join a group trip by yourself but you'll feel relaxed in no time!! you'll be added to a group chat 3-4 weeks before departure so you can start chatting with everyone before you even board the flight. By night one, you'll feel like you've known each other for years!! 90% come solo, 100% leave with new friends!!
One of the biggest reason we’ve launched a gals who travel brazil group trip is because so many girls reached out saying they didn’t feel safe to do it alone. We believe brazil is safe to travel as a girl but it’s important to have your wits about you. Stay in groups, don’t wear any flashy jewellery and always ensure you have a wrist strap for your phone. Travelling in a group tour with a local guide and everything sorted for you can take away so much of the stress and worry of safety so you can spend more time enjoying the magic of Brazil!
Yes, in our opinion but you still need to have your wits about you. the golden rule for rio’s beaches is simply never to leave your belongings unattended on the sand while swimming. Because you’re travelling with a group of gals, someone is always around to keep an eye on your bag while you're splashing in the ocean or grabbing a fresh coconut!!
In our experience, yes, but it’s best to be organised before you travel!! one of the best ways to feel safe in Brazil as a solo female traveller is to travel as part of a group with a local guide who knows the areas!! Brazil can come across scary on social media but being prepared can take that stress away, only travel to well known areas, use a phone strap as phone stealing can be a thing here, and stay in a group or with friends if you’re heading out. Don’t leave bags unattended on the beach and try to learn a few helpful phrases to get by!! Brazil has so much beauty and energy and it’s an amazing place to experience!! Our trips are designed for girls to travel the world safely and make amazing friendships whilst at it. we stay in handpicked, safe neighbourhoods, use vetted private transport, and have bilingual local guides with us every step of the way so we’ll explore it the best way possible!!
