the ultimate bali packing list for solo gals (honest 2026 guide) <3

okay so you've booked the ticket, saved all the aesthetic sunset spots from instagram reels or pinned the rice terraces on your pinterest board more than you can imagine and now you're staring at your suitcase thinking β€œhow on earth am i going to fit 10 days of my life into this?!” don't worry at all, we've got you covered!! whether you're joining our 11 day bali paradise or 10 day bali bliss, we're here to help you pack more with less!

bali was the very first destination we ever ran a group trip in, so it holds such a special place in our hearts. we've seen every packing mistake possible (yes, including someone bringing three pairs of high heels for gili t and wearing white clothes on the hike to mount batur from ubud)!

whether you're joining our bali bliss trip or heading out completely solo, here is our honest, tested, big-sister guide on exactly what to bring (and what to leave at home)

the golden rules of packing for bali

before we get into the actual list, keep these three things in mind:

it is hot AND humid: leave heavy denim, synthetic fabrics, and tight long sleeves at home. linen, soft cotton, and breathable viscose are your absolute best friends here!

you will live in sarongs: seriously, buy two or three before you fly or pick them up at a local market in canggu! they act as a temple cover-up, a beach towel, a makeshift blanket for air-conditioned vans, and a cute throw-on over swimwear.

laundry is super cheap and easy: almost every hotel or local warung offers same-day or next-day laundry service for a few pounds. pack for 7 days max, even if you're staying for two weeks!

clothing: the aesthetic vs. practical balance

you want outfits that look cute in photos at sunset, by the beach or out for beautiful dinners, but are comfortable enough to ride on the back of a grab bike or hike down to a waterfall in ubud!

  • 3–4x swimwear / bikinis: you'll be in the water every single day! bring a mix of cute bikinis for beach days in seminyak and one secure one-piece for snorkeling with turtles in gili t.
  • 2x linen shirts / oversized button-downs: perfect to throw over a bikini for a coffee run in canggu or to shield your shoulders from the tropical sun!
  • 3x denim shorts / lightweight shorts: whatever is comfiest!! The baggier, the more light weight the better!
  • 4–5 light weight tops & 2-3 dresses - we love a staple vest top as they’re perfect to dress up in the evening but also through on over your bikini!! A few summer dresses are also perfect to wear from day to night!!
  • 2x temple outfits: shoulders and knees MUST be covered when visiting temples like taman ayun so a linen trouser + t-shirt combo or a midi dress works perfectly or wrap a sarong around your shoulders.
  • 1x lightweight jumper or zip up hoody! for chilly air-conditioned airport flights and early morning sunrise hikes
  • 11x underwear & 2x bras: stick to breathable cotton

footwear: what do you ACTUALLY wear?

  • 1x comfortable sandals / birkenstocks: your daily go-to for walking around markets, cafes, and restaurants!!
  • 1x sturdy pair of trainers: essential if you're doing sunrise hikes (like mount batur) or walking along slippery waterfall trails.
  • 1x flip-flops / rubber slides: for chilling by the pool, outdoor showers, or walking across hot sand on the beach. We loveeee a haviana.
  • DO NOT BRING: stiletto heels or stiff wedges! the pavements in bali can be uneven, and you'll end up carrying them half the night!

toiletries, health & "bali belly" prep

okay, let's talk about the practical stuff you're probably a bit nervous to ask about in the group chat!

  • sunscreen (SPF 50+): bring plenty from home! sunscreen in bali can be super expensive, make sure to stock up before you go!!
  • mosquito repellent: essential for jungle vibes in ubud and outdoor dinners.
  • electrolyte sachets: flying dehydrates you, and the tropical heat makes you sweat way more than normal! Popping an electrolyte sachet into your water bottle every morning will keep your energy high. We also recommend having a fresh coconut in bali, they’re some of the tastiest in the world and help with hydration!!
  • charcoal tablets & imodium: just in case you get a touch of "bali belly"! remember: stick to bottled water (ice in tourist cafes is totally regulated and safe!) and try foods that work well with your stomach!
  • solid shampoo/conditioner bars: great for saving liquid space in your hand luggage!

electronics & travel essentials

  • universal travel adapter: bali uses UK-style two-round-pin plugs (type C and F).
  • high-capacity power bank: you'll be taking tons of photos and using grab/gojek apps all day, so your battery will drain fast!
  • waterproof phone pouch: a lifesaver for boat trips across to gili t or chasing waterfalls.
  • crossbody bag with a secure zip: keep your phone and cash zipped away safely when riding on scooters or walking through busy night markets.
  • bali packing FAQs

what bag should I bring for a bali group trip?

we recommend a 50L 70L soft duffel bag or a lightweight wheeled suitcase. avoid massive, rigid hardshell suitcases if you can, as they can be tricky to pack onto fast ferries heading over to gili t!

can I buy hygiene products easily in bali?

yes! mini-marts like indomaret and alfamart are on almost every street corner in canggu, seminyak, and ubud. however, tampons can be harder to find and more expensive outside of main tourist hubs, so bring your preferred period products with you!

what should I wear on a night out in canggu or seminyak?

bali nightlife is super relaxed! think a cute linen matching set, a flowy sundress, or shorts with a nice top paired with flat sandals or clean trainers. Whatever you feel most comfortable in!!

is it safe to bring expensive jewellery or designer bags?

we recommend leaving high-value designer items at home. simple, everyday jewellery is totally fine, but leaving flashy items behind gives you complete peace of mind while exploring markets or heading out for the day!
